J.B. Clark Is Player of the Week Again

Despite the disappointing performance this Saturday, sophomore QB J.B. Clark once again gets LFN Player of the Week honors this week. Clark had his best day statistically in a Mountain Hawk uniform, going 24-for-39 with 338 yards passing and 4 TDs (and no interceptions). He also showed a ton of grit, rallying from a 21-6 deficit for 27 unanswered points. He could have very easily had five TDs: he hooked up on a 58 yard strike to senior WR Sekou Yansane that was set up a 6 yard TD run by senior RB Adam Watson, too. His gutty performance makes him the Player of the Week this week.

Game balls will be going to:

Reader's Choice: Sophomore QB J.B. Clark

Offense: (tie) Senior WR Sekou Yansane and senior WR Mike Fitzgerald (Yansane: 6 receptions, 113 yards, 1 TD, Fitzgerald, 7 catches, 111 yards, 2 TDs)

Defense: Senior DT Brian Jackson (7 tackles, 2 tackles for loss)

Special teams: Sophomore DB/KR John "Fear Itself" Kennedy (5 kickoff returns for 89 yards, plus a 15 yard interception which set up Lehigh's last TD.)

Congratulations to all the winners.

J.B. Clark is one of the worst Lehigh quarterbacks making choices in a long time. His completion percentage was terrible the past two weeks.

Adam Watson should have been on the list for player of the week. He was great the past two weeks.

a completely agree with LUMNUT

lumnut, Clark will be legendary by the time he leaves here and Im betting he could kick your ass too.

From everything I have heard, the freshman Lum is an outstanding talent and has the best arm on the team. There is a real possibility that Lum beats out Clark for the starting job next year and Clark never gets a chance to become "legendary".

well you are right, it will be a real battle for that spot. Im enamored with Clark's size and drive to be the best. I have seen Lum live and although he is a different type of quarterback he has talent like Randolph from HC

I am quite sure you will see Randolph on Sundays

What happened to Lum this fall? He couldn't beat out Clark this summer what makes you think he is going to beat him out next summer? Lets be serious guys....

Very few true freshman start at quarterback since it takes time to learn the offense. Randolph is the best quarterback the Patriot League had seen in a long long time and even he didn't start as a freshman.

JB Clark is going to be the best quarterback this patriot league has ever witnessed. Nothing bad about Lum but he better be packing his bags is he ever wishes to see the ball in his hands again.

After watching this team all year, JB Clark has actually been a pleasant surprise. He has clearly shown improvement through the year. He was 24-39 for 338 yards against Colgate. He did everything he needed to do to win the game. I also agree that Watson was a beast at RB.

Defense has been the problem in the two league losses not the offense.

Unless Coen is gone or changes his approach, it is unlikely Coen will start Lum as a sophomore instead of Clark. Clark is a known commodity. More importantly, if Andy survives to coach one more year, I don't believe he's going to bet his career on an untested sophomore.

Lumnut lets take a look back at colgate.... and check those percentages and lets see how "horrible" they really are.

You dont think Coen will go with an untested sophmore and go with the known commodity? Suppose the sophmore is light years better. Just wait and see, the comp won't even be close.

hey dumbnuts, i mean lumnutz, so sorry i mean lumnut. nothing bad about lum and i hope he has a great career. but i just don't see him even in a tryout against clark. lets get serious...clark is a potential balla and is gonna make it happen. and jeff you don't even know what your talking about.

How The Ivy League Is Able To Break the NCAA's Scholarship Limits and Still Consider Themselves FCS

By now you've seen the results.  In 2018, the Ivy League has taken the FCS by storm. Perhaps it was Penn's 30-10 defeat of Lehigh a couple of weeks ago .  Or maybe it was Princeton's 50-9 drubbing of another team that made the FCS Playoffs last year, Monmouth.  Or maybe it was Yale's shockingly dominant 35-14 win over nationally-ranked Maine last weekend. The Ivy League has gone an astounding 12-4 so far in out-of-conference play, many of those wins coming against the Patriot League. But it's not just against the Patriot League where the Ivy League has excelled.  Every Ivy League school has at least one out-of-conference victory, which is remarkable since it is only three games into their football season.  The four losses - Rhode Island over Harvard, Holy Cross over Yale, Delaware over Cornell, and Cal Poly over Brown - were either close losses that could have gone either way or expected blowouts of teams picked to be at the bottom of the Ivy League. Made-Up Midseason Grades for Lehigh Football

We are now officially midway through the 2023 Lehigh football season.  The Mountain Hawks sit at 1-5 overall, and 0-1 in the Patriot League. I thought I'd go ahead and make up some midseason grades, and set some "fan goals" for the second half. The 2023 Mountain Hawks were picked to finish fifth in the seven team Patriot League.  In order to meet or exceed that expectation, they'll probably have to go at least 3-2 the rest of the way in conference play.  Their remaining games are vs. Georgetown, at Bucknell, vs. Holy Cross, at Colgate, and vs. Lafayette in The Rivalry. Can they do it? Culture Changing: B+ .  I was there in the Bronx last week after the tough 38-35 defeat to Fordham, and there wasn't a single player emerging from the locker room that looked like they didn't care.  Every face was glum.  They didn't even seem sad.  More frustrated and angry. That may seem normal, considering the agonizing way the Mountain Hawks lost, but it was a marked chan

Fifteen Guys Who Might be Lehigh's Next Football Coach (and Five More)

If you've been following my Twitter account, you might have caught some "possibilities" as Lehigh's next head football coach like Lou Holtz, Brett Favre and Bo Pelini .  The chance that any of those three guys actually are offered and accept the Lehigh head coaching position are somewhere between zero and zero.  (The full list of my Twitter "possibilities" are all on this thread on the Lehigh Sports Forum .) However the actual Lehigh head football coaching search is well underway, with real names and real possibilities. I've come up with a list of fifteen possible names, some which I've heard whispered as candidates, others which might be good fits at Lehigh for a variety of reasons. UPDATE: I have found five more names of possible head coaches that I am adding to this list below. Who are the twenty people?  Here they are, in alphabetical order.
