Hard to believe while experiencing this scorching heat, but the football season is upon us.  Four days from today, Lehigh will be in Des Moines, Iowa to open the regular season against the Drake Bulldogs. I've been posting a series on "Knowing our 2010 Opponents" this summer, but before going into the regular season we need to know ourselves, too.  What do we have? Who will be starting? I'm away on summer vacation, but I couldn't resist getting in a few tidbits of information about Lehigh before I left. (I wrote this post earlier.) While I'm enjoying the seaside, junior RB Jaren Walker was volunteering at the Sports Camp at Lehigh . The Johnson-McCormick family tried to blog about the experience without me knowing, but - let's just say I have ways to find out things. This past week Kyle and Owen were in Sports Camp at Lehigh . They had their most fun week yet of the entire summer! They LOVED LOVED LOVED it. They just soaked it all up and could not have been happier with it. Last week, fall practice started. In the official release , coach Coen makes one very interesting note: “ Freshman RB Zach Barket and freshman RB Tony Kablan have a great opportunity in front of them; the running backs always see a lot of action and get a high number of reps during camp so each one of those guys will have a chance to show what he’s capable of.” I haven't ...

The Lehigh athletic department just released a spring update , and it's quite an interesting read. Four practices to go, with the annual Brown/White scrimmage taking place on April 18th at Goodman Stadium (free admission) - and interesting information has come to light: Call it the revenge of the "super Sophomores", as there were a multitude of members of the sophomore class that were singled out: Coen says he’s been pleased with the progress of that group overall. “ Sophomore RB Matt Fitz has been impressive; he’s competed well and really improved from last year. Sophomore WR De’Vaughn Gordon and sophomore WR Jake Drwal have done some nice things, and on defense sophomore LB Fred Mihal at linebacker and sophomore CB Colin Newton have both had very strong springs.
