Your Lehigh Class of 2020 Commit Tracker

Only one thing can really make a Mountain Hawk fan smile during the offseason, and that's news about the latest Lehigh football commits for the class of 2020.

Fortunately for you (and me), some of the best fans of any sport have created an unofficial list of Lehigh football recruits.

Legendary fans Rich Heelan and Todd Cuddington have made a master spreadsheet of recruits.  With the very big caveat that all of these names are unofficial until the letters of intent are signed, I will be taking the names from their master list and making my own spreadsheet of names for you, dear Reader, to peruse.

Below the flip are two spreadsheets, and some links to get you excited about the incoming class.

If you would like a link to the master spreadsheet (which, again, is not official and is not maintained by me). you can click to it here.

If you click the link in the spreadsheet above, on the right, you will link to their high school Hudl profiles.  On there generally is content like videos of the recruits playing in high school and other interesting information.

On top of this, below I provide additional information on recruits (this will be continuously updated as I find out more information on the recruiting class):

ATH Dylan Connally
Played QB at River Dell
Three days after the River Dell Golden Hawks lost their third consecutive playoff game against the Sparta Spartans, Dylan Connolly was back at work in the off-season lifting program preparing for the current, 2015 season.
“We were getting into the mind set of what our people and team was going to be like,” said Dylan Connolly. “A ship of people leave and a new ship comes in. You just have to step up and do all you can in the off-season in order to get your playing time in. We returned a bunch of lineman and as well as running backs and wide receivers is important and having them on the same page.”
Connolly is meticulous when it comes to film study sessions by playing the game over and over in his head before it happens.
“The things I expect are usually how the game goes and progresses,” said Connolly. “I am always ready for what things get in my way.”
Following in the footsteps of his brother Matt has definitely been cool for Connolly. “Ever since I was a young kid I looked up to my brother on the football field. Watching him on the 2007 team that ripped off 12 wins in a row made me want to experience that same type of feeling.”

OL/DL Taylor Curlin
Scout.Com Profile
Like many high school seniors, setting up for the future is a top priority. For senior Taylor Curlin, a school that boasts a top ranked business or engineering program sits high on his list. The Lyons Township offensive tackle and defensive end is exploring schools in the Ivy League, Patriot League and Colonial Athletic Conference.
“I’ve gone to camps at Columbia, Harvard, Richmond, James Madison, UPenn, Lehigh and NIU and Northwestern,” Curlin said. “I’m looking to find a school that can offer me a really good education as well as giving me the ability to play football.” While at the camps, Curlin received positive feedback from coaches. At Richmond, he impressed coaches, who told him he “was one of the best linebackers at camp,” while Harvard and Lafayette want to see his first two games of the season before making any decisions.

WR Greg Gamble
Philly.com: Moorestown's Gamble commits to Lehigh
When Gamble visited Lehigh University earlier this month, he immediately "felt right at home."
Gamble has committed to attend Lehigh on a football scholarship. He will sign with Lehigh on Feb. 3, national signing day.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Gamble also had an offer from Lafayette as well as invitations to join the Michigan and Rutgers program as a preferred walk-on.
"The Rutgers situation was very interesting to me," Gamble said. "I visited and and really liked it. But once I visited Lehigh, I knew it was the place for me."
Gamble is the son of former Eagles and San Francisco 49ers executive Tom Gamble and the grandson of former Eagles executive and legendary South Jersey football man Harry Gamble.

On The Radar
Another talented football player who we have had out there in the past, and as we head down the homestretch, this indeed was one of the best and most productive quarterbacks in south Florida over the past two years. One of the most accurate passers who was also asked to showcase his leadership qualities as well, and he responded.

McCarthy Report Weighs In On Local College Football Prospects
In McCarthy’s eyes, Morristown-Beard has a leg up on many Morris County teams for next year because of the presence of standout two-way linemen Alex Motley and Markel Titus
“In a way, they’re like Jyles Tucker, who was at Morristown-Beard before he went to Wake Forest and then the Chargers in the NFL,” McCarthy said. “Those two kids are splendid. Alex Motley is the grand-nephew of (former Cleveland Browns legend) Marion Motley. Alex is a straight ‘A’ student who is very athletic and has a great future. Titus is very athletic and moves very well. I project him more as a defensive lineman. He is big and swift and another great student.”

Miami Herald: Unblockable 'Beasts' Fuel St. Thomas Aquinas' Title Hopes
“I believe we have the best D-line in the nation,” said CB James Oliphant, a 5-9, 175-pound senior who is one of nine starters on Aquinas’ defense with a Football Bowl Subdivision scholarship offer. “The front we have — they can’t be blocked.”
DL Nick Bosa, the most heralded of the bunch and the younger brother of Lombardi and Bednarik Award candidate Joey Bosa at Ohio State, leads the team in tackles (47) and tackles for loss (27½).
The other guys playing opposite him at rush end/outside linebacker are Wyatt Ray, a 6-3, 230-pound Boston College commitment who ranks fourth on the team with 34½ tackles and 10½ for loss, and 6-3, 230-pound three-star recruit Chris Hart (North Carolina, Iowa, Utah, Michigan State).
The big guys in the middle are 6-4, 245-pound senior Brandon Boyce (Duke commitment), 6-3, 265-pound junior Colin Nace, and 6-3, 240-pound senior Julian McCleod. Boyce leads the team with seven sacks.

RB/SS Riley O'Neil
Rivals Profile
CN Football Player of the Week (Sept 29th)
O'Neil is the Courier News Player of the Week after turning in an outstanding effort in Friday's 39-18 Mid-State 38 Watchung Division game over North Hunterdon. O'Neil carried nine times for 109 yards and two touchdowns, including a 41-yarder in the third period in Clinton. He also led the team with 10 tackles and recovered a fumble.
"At halftime it was tight, the message at halftime the past three games has been we're not repeating Westfield, that's not going to happen again,'' said O'Neil.
O'Neil's referred to the Westfield game of last year when the Blue Devils recorded a historic comeback for their program to rally to a 28-26 victory at Kehler Stadium. That was one of several where Immaculata let leads slip.

Scout Story: Prendergast Commits
"I committed to Lehigh," Prendergast said. "All along I knew I wanted to commit before the season as long as I really liked the school, and I just absolutely loved Lehigh."
For Prendergast, who had offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Colgate, Harvard, New Mexico, Toledo and Western Michigan.
"It'a a great school academically first and foremost, and I also really like the campus, as well as all the coaching staff," Prendergast said.

Coaches Comments: Jon has grown into a tremendously physical football player. As a safety, he fearlessly fills an alley as well as any high school safety I have seen. A lacrosse player as well, Jon has a skill set that includes outstanding footwork and the ability to change directions at full speed. With a long frame and over 6’3 in height, he can cover a lot of ground in a hurry in the defensive backfield. He will be a force in our secondary this season.

NJ.Com: Game Recap vs. Wayne Hills
Ramapo coach Drew Gibbs joked that his senior quarterback Keith Woetzel does everything, even selling programs at halftime.
Friday night against Wayne Hills, well, Woetzel did just about everything but that. He ran for two scores, passed for 185 yards, and ran back an interception 89 yards as the Green Raiders dominated the Patriots, 34-7.

How The Ivy League Is Able To Break the NCAA's Scholarship Limits and Still Consider Themselves FCS

By now you've seen the results.  In 2018, the Ivy League has taken the FCS by storm. Perhaps it was Penn's 30-10 defeat of Lehigh a couple of weeks ago .  Or maybe it was Princeton's 50-9 drubbing of another team that made the FCS Playoffs last year, Monmouth.  Or maybe it was Yale's shockingly dominant 35-14 win over nationally-ranked Maine last weekend. The Ivy League has gone an astounding 12-4 so far in out-of-conference play, many of those wins coming against the Patriot League. But it's not just against the Patriot League where the Ivy League has excelled.  Every Ivy League school has at least one out-of-conference victory, which is remarkable since it is only three games into their football season.  The four losses - Rhode Island over Harvard, Holy Cross over Yale, Delaware over Cornell, and Cal Poly over Brown - were either close losses that could have gone either way or expected blowouts of teams picked to be at the bottom of the Ivy League. UMass 21, Lafayette 14, halftime

Are you watching this game? UMass had this game under control until about 3 minutes in the second quarter, and then got an interception, converted for a TD. Then the Leopards forced a fumble off the return, and then converted THAT for a TD, making this a game. It's on CN8. You really should be watching this.

Examining A Figure Skating Rivalry: Tonya and Nancy

It must be very hard for a millennial to understand the fuss around the Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding figure skating scandal in the run-up to the 1994 Olympics. If you're of a certain age, though - whether you're a figure skating fan or not, and I am decidedly no fan of figure skating - the Shakespearean story of Harding and Kerrigan still engages, and still grabs peoples' attention, twenty years later. Why, though?  Why, twenty years later, in a sport I care little, does the story still grab me?  Why did I spend time out of my life watching dueling NBC and ESPN documentaries on the subject, and Google multiple stories about Jeff Gilooly , idiot "bodyguards", and the whole sordid affair? I think it's because the story, even twenty years later, is like opium. The addictive story, even now, has everything.  Everything.  The woman that fought for everything, perhaps crossing over to the dark side to get her chance at Olypic Gold, vs. the woman who
