Gah - did I almost forget? Yeah, I did. In what will be the quickest blog posting ever, I will go over an exciting weekend in Lehigh sports as the Mountain Hawks men's teams hit the road and the women's basketball team hosts the Christmas City Classic.
Women's Basketball (5-6) (RPI:225)
Christmas City Classic
12/30 BROWN (1-9) (RPI: 319)
12/31 STONY BROOK (4-7) (RPI: 229)
OR RHODE ISLAND (5-6) (RPI: 216)
1/3 YALE (2-6) (RPI: 243)
Wins over Sacred Heart and Binghamton have given the Lady Hawks some nice momentum going into the Christmas City Classic. Freshman G Alex Ross has continued her way to lead the team in scoring, while junior G Tricia Smith was named Patriot League Player of the week for her performance in the two wins (28 points, 13 rebounds). If we could get three wins here - not at all out of the realm of possibility, especially at home - we could be in for something special before getting to Patriot League play.
Men's Basketball (5-5) (RPI: 266)
12/28 MONMOUTH (2-9) (RPI: 319)
12/31 at Penn State (7-4) (RPI: 130)
1/2 at Columbia (4-7) (RPI: 229)
Is this the year we get some consistency? After a 20-day layoff, we se the men's basketball team return to the hardwood at home versus the Hawks. Now, I've followed this team enough years to see the possibility that Lehigh lets down at home against the Hawks, looking ahead to the game at State College the following weekend. Can sophomore G Marquis Hall and senior F Bryan White avoid the letdown?
On the other hand, if we go 2-1 here and hold serve, I'd be ecstatic.
Wrestling
12/19 at the Wolverine Quad (Michigan, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan)
With the way wrestling has been going, I'd be happy with a win over Buffalo in this Quad. It has to be said: if we were to finish first in this meet, would it be an "Appalachian State" type of victory for this program? It would feel like it after the matters had been shut out by Penn State and Central Michigan already this year.
Some wrestlers to watch out for are senior 157 lb Dave Nakasone (7-8) and sophomore 165 lb Mike Galante (7-6).
