Lehigh 40, Fordham 3 final

I think it's safe to look ahead to Lafayette now, right?

A complete performance. Lafayette will look at this game film and say that Lehigh is playing their best football (when their starters are in). Threatt and Rath with big days on offense, along with great drives against a pretty good defense. 517 yards of total offense - what a great effort!

Our "D" may have played their best game of the year, completely manhandling an overmatched Fordham offense. DL Chris Zambrano is a surprising name this week. I don't have the stats, but I believe he has a couple of sacks and has been all over Fordham QBs all day. He's been the linchpin of a smothering defensive effort - 128 total yards only on the day! The defensive line has put immense pressure on Fordham, and was successful in spades. Nothing but gushing praise for the defense. Bode's fumble return for a TD on the last play of the gmae was just the icing on the cake for them.

A bit of kicking problems in the special teams game, with a missed extra point and a missed FG (and a blocked punt), so there's something to work on this week (and something for coach Lembo to be mad about this week, too). Against Lafayette, they could have been fatal mistakes.

Overall, I am extremely pleased going into the 141st Lehigh/Lafayette meeting. It "Bodes" well for a Patriot League title. Tune in tomorrow for more thoughts.

Like you said, when the starters were in they were awesome. But yet another game where they didn't play great for the full 60 minutes. Pete, and the rest of us, keep hoping for that and next week against that other school would be the perfect situation. On paper we should have no problem with Lafayette, but there are too many little breakdowns to make me feel overly confident.

It was a perfect half of football. However it seemed the offense lost some focusin the second half--penalties and turnovers that cannot occur next week. Perhaps the start was too easy leading the the letdown in the secnd. However te D was terrific the whole game. Zambano has to get a game ball--but the entire D front was great. Holding Prydatko to 33 yards was somethng.
Sedale on O looked very comfortable and had his best game of the year. Leo has to be tha man for any fg beyond 35-Musiek's trajectory is just too low whenever he tries to go long. tighter coverage on KO needed, too. Lafayette's return guy is very good. Can't give the Pards mid=field position like we gave he Rams

How The Ivy League Is Able To Break the NCAA's Scholarship Limits and Still Consider Themselves FCS

By now you've seen the results.  In 2018, the Ivy League has taken the FCS by storm. Perhaps it was Penn's 30-10 defeat of Lehigh a couple of weeks ago .  Or maybe it was Princeton's 50-9 drubbing of another team that made the FCS Playoffs last year, Monmouth.  Or maybe it was Yale's shockingly dominant 35-14 win over nationally-ranked Maine last weekend. The Ivy League has gone an astounding 12-4 so far in out-of-conference play, many of those wins coming against the Patriot League. But it's not just against the Patriot League where the Ivy League has excelled.  Every Ivy League school has at least one out-of-conference victory, which is remarkable since it is only three games into their football season.  The four losses - Rhode Island over Harvard, Holy Cross over Yale, Delaware over Cornell, and Cal Poly over Brown - were either close losses that could have gone either way or expected blowouts of teams picked to be at the bottom of the Ivy League....

UMass 21, Lafayette 14, halftime

Are you watching this game? UMass had this game under control until about 3 minutes in the second quarter, and then got an interception, converted for a TD. Then the Leopards forced a fumble off the return, and then converted THAT for a TD, making this a game. It's on CN8. You really should be watching this.

Examining A Figure Skating Rivalry: Tonya and Nancy

It must be very hard for a millennial to understand the fuss around the Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding figure skating scandal in the run-up to the 1994 Olympics. If you're of a certain age, though - whether you're a figure skating fan or not, and I am decidedly no fan of figure skating - the Shakespearean story of Harding and Kerrigan still engages, and still grabs peoples' attention, twenty years later. Why, though?  Why, twenty years later, in a sport I care little, does the story still grab me?  Why did I spend time out of my life watching dueling NBC and ESPN documentaries on the subject, and Google multiple stories about Jeff Gilooly , idiot "bodyguards", and the whole sordid affair? I think it's because the story, even twenty years later, is like opium. The addictive story, even now, has everything.  Everything.  The woman that fought for everything, perhaps crossing over to the dark side to get her chance at Olypic Gold, vs. the woman who...
