This week, we've seen a slight change in Lehigh's coaching staff worthy of mention. Defensive line coach Mark Fetterman accepted a job coaching high school football in Delaware, and to replace him Lembo convinced Jay Bateman, formerly of the University of Richmond, to rejoin him.
Bateman joins Lembo and defensive coordinator Shannon Morrison, who worked with both of them at Hampden-Sydney. More recently, he was the head coach at the now-defunct Siena football team. In the press release, it was also noted that Bateman signed 4 scholarship players at Richmond - pretty impressive.
It sounds like this is a completely amicable split with Fetterman, and reunion with Bateman. Welcome aboard, Jay.
In other Lehigh-related news, Delaware signed former Lehigh secondary coach Issac Collins, only 1 year after Collins left Lehigh to go to Holy Cross. With Collins leaving after year 1 of Tom Gilmore's multi-year rebuilding effort in Worcester, rumor has it there was a falling-out between Gilmore and Collins.
What is for sure, Delaware got a top-notch defensive guy, and the Crusaders' rebuilding plan couldn't help but have been affected.
